About us: what Tlacati is and is not
Tlacati is an independent information and guidance channel about surrogacy in Mexico for women considering becoming surrogates. We explain the process, general requirements, compensation and legal framework in plain language and, when asked, connect the person with a program. We are not a clinic or agency, do not ask for documents and do not guarantee acceptance, payments or outcomes.

Why Tlacati exists
Most information available about surrogacy is written for intended parents or by the agencies offering it. Someone considering becoming a surrogate often arrives at a first conversation without knowing what to ask, with isolated figures and without understanding the contract they will be offered. Tlacati was created to fill that gap: neutral information in Spanish before deciding. This website is also available in English.
The name comes from the Nahuatl word tlacati, "to be born".
What we do
- We explain how the process works, what requirements are common, how compensation is structured and what the law says.
- We answer questions on WhatsApp, without commitment or pressure.
- If you ask and give permission, we share your profile with an agency or program so they can contact you and explain their conditions.
- We help you make sense of a program's explanation, so you can tell whether it covers payments, expenses, assessments and protections.
What we do not do
- We do not carry out medical or psychological assessments, diagnoses or treatments.
- We do not request or store identification, test results or documents.
- We do not set or pay compensation or arrange insurance.
- We do not sign contracts with you or represent either party.
- We do not guarantee acceptance into a program, pregnancy, birth, payments or outcomes.
- We do not provide legal, tax, psychological or financial advice; we explain when seeking it may be helpful.
How we handle your information
We use only what is necessary to provide guidance and follow up. Your profile is not shared with anyone without your express permission, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. Details are in the full privacy notice and the terms and conditions.
Who responds
Tlacati is a trade name operated by Chenet Marcel Carreño, an individual engaged in business activities in Mexico City, with the support of a guidance team. The data controller, address and email for exercising ARCO rights are listed in the privacy notice.
